[2026-CM-757893-GD] Dixon Stove v. LSPD

Post by Dixon Stove »

Complaint Type: General Dispute

Plaintiff: Dixon Stove

Self Rep: no

Lawyer Name: Dylan Cross

Respondent: LSPD

Claim:
While operating my vehicle, I was signalled to stop by Officer Bone. I immediately attempted to comply by pulling over. The police vehicle collided with my vehicle. After stopping, the officer instructed me to turn off my vehicle. I immediately explained that my vehicle had a faulty battery and that if the engine were switched off, it would not restart without a jump start. I exited the vehicle while leaving the engine running and cooperated with the officer's instructions.

I presented my ID to the officer during the initial stop. The officer later admitted on multiple occasions that I had shown him my identification but claimed that he was unable to properly record my details because other individuals had gathered nearby which is false, as there was only one other person present when I showed him my ID.

During the traffic stop, several of my friends arrived because they had become trapped inside Pillbox after the doors were locked. One of my friends was also downed and could not receive medical treatment unless the doors were unlocked. Rather than assisting or requesting another officer to assist with the situation, Officer Bone repeatedly referred to them as "gang members." publicly defaming us. He later admitted that this characterization was based solely on the fact that they wore similar clothing and masks, not on any evidence that they were members of a criminal gang. I repeatedly asked him to verify my criminal record as I had no priors and requested a supervisor to address what I believed to be improper profiling.

I voluntarily entered the patrol vehicle solely to present my identification again in private as he was getting overwhelmed. Instead, I was transported to MRPD, tased without presenting an immediate threat, and arrested. The officer initially justified my detention on the basis of failing to identify myself and performed a search without probable cause, yet later changed the basis of the arrest to obstruction, reckless driving, and possession of an unregistered firearm. This shifting justification demonstrates an inconsistent and arbitrary basis for my arrest.

He expressly stated that he was "not that type of officer" who would admit making a mistake and maintained that he was "completely within the right to arrest" me

Demand:
A personal and formal apology from the Chief of Police to me and my friends for being wrongly profiled and repeatedly referred to as gang members without any evidence.
Fair compensation for the time I spent in custody, the financial losses I suffered, and the distress caused by my unlawful arrest.
The immediate return of my phone and radio, as they were personal gifts from a close friend and have significant sentimental value. If they cannot be returned, I request fair compensation for their loss.
The removal of all charges and records arising from this unlawful arrest and search.
Any other relief the Court considers fair and appropriate.

Witnesses: AJ

Evidence: Submitted to my lawyer
