[2025-CM-940116-SC] Saga McKenna v. LSPD
Posted: Mon Sep 01, 2025 9:04 am
Complaint Type: Small Claims
Plaintiff: Saga McKenna
Self Rep: no
Respondent: LSPD
Claim:
On August 26th 2025 I, Saga McKenna, was working as security at an event hosted by VV at Wi Wang skybar. An officer had entered after brief conversation with security working at the elevator, Saga McKenna, Dembe Malumba and Kendall Fulton. As the officer exited through the elevatordoors he stopped by my coworker, Dembe, and asked him "if I tased her, what would you do?"
From this point on my memory gets a bit foggy as a result of the injuries I suffered, but I've been told by my two coworkers that he proceeded to taze me for no reason.
As a direct result from the taze I suffered a cardiac arrest which left me unresponsive and without pulse. Luckily for me my coworker Kendall was quick to provide CPR which brought me back to life.
My coworkers was attempting to get in contact with EMS. When EMS failed to reply LSPD was contacted. LSPD responded by sending a unit that brought me to hospital because I was in need of care and treatment from a doctor following my heart stopping beating as a result of the unprovoked taze.
If I was not lucky enough to have trained people around me I would have been dead, I was in fact dead for a brief moment before Kendall provided lifesaving CPR. I would have been dead because an officer thought it would be a laugh to taze a person without reason.
Demand:
As a result of the officer wanting to taze me for the fun of it I need to follow up with a cardiologist and go through extencive testing to figure out how much, if any, damage my heart took from the cardiac arrest. Depending on the results my quality of life and my life expectancy could be lessened.
I will be seeking compensation for both physical and emotional pain and suffering.
During my rehabilitation from my cardiac arrest I am experiencing fatigue and exhaustion. I will because of this need to stay away from work untill Im fit enough to start work again, as my work both at VV and The Diamond Casino demands of me to be in a decent physical form.
I will therefor be seeking compensation for my time away from work as I regain strenght.
I seek to be reimbursed $100 000, for the reasons I have mentioned above.
I will also strongly urge the LSPD as a whole to look into how officers handle their tools, and go through the danger each of their tools actually hold.
I was extremely unlucky to be tazed at "just the right moment" for my heart to completely stop. It is not unheard of this this affects both healthy individuals, and offcourse also individuals with an allready excisting heart condition.
