[2025-CM-559104-AC] Jahnny Depp v. DOA
Posted: Mon Nov 24, 2025 7:32 am
Complaint Type: Administrative Complaint
Plaintiff: Jahnny Depp
Self Rep: no
Lawyer Name: N/A
Respondent: DOA
Claim:
On the date of the incident, I was at the Kortz Center with my friend Ryan selling a small amount of drugs when an unknown male wearing a white polo and black pants approached me while openly holding a gun and repeatedly threatening to kill me, which caused me to run for my safety. Ryan heard these threats both in person and over the radio as I called them out. Before I ever pulled a firearm, Ryan fired shots to protect me from the armed individual chasing me. Within seconds, four to five LSPD officers suddenly rushed in and opened fire directly on me even though I did not have a gun in my hand and had not shot at anyone. Under heavy fire and trying to defend myself from potentially being killed, I pulled my weapon only after they had already begun shooting. Both Ryan and I were shot and incapacitated. While EMS was treating Ryan, one officer told EMS they would treat me next, but another officer stated, “let his body rot,” refusing medical attention despite my critical condition. After being transported, I was wrongfully charged with Intent to Supply C2 Drugs simply for having six small bags and a large amount of cash, which is not evidence of distribution. While in the cells, my handcuffs slipped off and i threw them in the toilet and flushed it. Instead of giving me any chance to comply, the officer immediately accused me of “breaking his handcuffs,” tased me without warning, came into the cell, recuffed me while I was still being tased, and walked out. I was then fined $20,000 and sentenced to 18 days in jail with no proper justification. Throughout the entire situation—including detainment, questioning, and arrest—neither I nor Ryan was ever read our Miranda Rights.
Demand:
I am demanding compensation from the LSPD for the excessive force, wrongful charges, and misconduct I experienced during the Kortz Center incident. I was shot while unarmed, denied medical treatment, overcharged for drugs, tased without warning, and fined $20,000 without cause. On top of that, neither I nor Ryan were ever read our Miranda Rights at any point during detainment, questioning, or arrest. Because these actions caused injuries, jail time, and financial loss, I am requesting full reimbursement of my fine and additional compensation for the damages I suffered. I expect the department to make this right immediately.
Witnesses:
Ryan Bigglestein (573-773-3083)
Sally Kay (153-982-5205)
Mac Miami (996-862-6175)
Doolie Papi (939-889-4171)
Pepe Ascari (319-419-7381)
Evidence:
I dont have the body cam of the initial scene at Kortz Center since my body cam wasn't on. Ryan was there to witness it and Sally, Mac, Doolie, and Pepe were on the radio also and heard an unknown guy with a gun was chasing me.
